ABOUT US

12.6% of Broward County lives in poverty and 52% of those are children who face homelessness. 64% are African American children who lack the ability to swim. ROCK strives to form an organization where the youth that fall in this percentage will rekindle their commitment to learning and becoming a pillar in the community. Youth are afforded the opportunity to find a strong support system in an organization that works to ensure each youth moves from enduring to prospering. ROCK is about helping the community and eliminating the gaps where it seems the lower income neighborhoods are forgotten. Our goal is to assist parents/guardians to develop the skills required to assume the responsibility of providing guidance and structure for their children while imparting them with knowledge and skills crucial to at-risk children. We focus on education and being a helper to one another being a persistent factor through the hardships. We encourage young people to love themselves and embrace their testimony as they inspire others who have suffered the same trauma, defeat, and self- esteem they once experienced. We help them come to the understanding that their situation does not define them and they too can grow up to become some of the most prominent people in the world regardless of what their socioeconomic status started out as. Our mission is to give at risk youth the same learning opportunities offered to those who live in richer neighborhoods. We are dedicated and motivated to change the way society view low-income families for generations to come.
